Let you bring through this majestic place where you will be met by the Cavalier Printemps which is a character created by Georges LEONNEC in 1935 to represent the Byrrh brand in the newspaper “L’Illustration”.

Get back to 1866 and find out about the origins of Byrrh by watching a film which relates the incredible saga of the VIOLET family. The film is shown inside a concrete vat which can contains 6800 hectolitres of wines, and will provide you with the key elements of an amazing story.

Further along the tour you will get to see about forty original posters from 1903 which are on display for the first time in Thuir. They were made for a poster competition, launched at the behest of Lambert Violet in the 28th February 1903 edition of Le Monde illustré. The theme was “Byrrh, a ‘hygienic’ health tonic made with full-bodied wines and flavoured with cinchona”. The competition attracted around 1900 entries.

The posters currently on display all depict the theme “women’s attire during La Belle Epoque”, and will be renewed at regular intervals for your viewing pleasure.
